What happens on the outside is often downstream from what’s happening within.

Afraid to fail, lose, disappoint people or look incompetent, leaders tighten up, control more and trust less.
Rush. Force. Avoid. Shut down. Get defensive. Pressure exposes what you’ve practiced long before the moment arrives.
When a result becomes a verdict on who you are, pressure gets heavier and freedom gets smaller.
Sometimes the better question isn’t “How do I perform better?” It’s “What is getting in the way of my performance right now?”
For more than 15 years, I’ve worked with coaches, athletes, executives and teams where expectations are high and performance is public.
Most people know me from Keep Chopping Wood. Across my speaking, coaching and work at BETTER, I help people understand what changes in them under pressure, what gets in the way and how to respond better.
A lot of that work has happened in sports. But pressure isn’t a sports problem. The same things show up everywhere: fear, ego, identity, overthinking and drift.

I want people to leave with something they can actually use. A better question. A clearer way to see what’s happening. A practical next step.

The goal isn’t to impress people for an hour. It’s to help them see something differently and do something with it.
A few speaking clips are on YouTube ↗I don’t give the same talk to every room. I want to know who’s there, what they’re facing and what would make the hour useful.
The fire is public. The chopping is private. A message about process, preparation, discipline and staying committed when progress is slower than you want.
Adversity is inevitable. How you respond matters. A keynote about navigating setbacks, uncertainty and difficult seasons. Recognize what pressure brings out in you, focus on what you can control and learn to grow through adversity.
What you don’t lead in yourself will eventually lead you. This keynote helps leaders see how their own patterns shape the people, decisions and culture around them.
